Member Tammy Puyear, Industry Advisor and Connector, provides insight into her role and her choice to become a member of Cannabis Marketing Association.


What is the nature of your day-to-day job?

I work in different facets of the industry as a freelance writer, marketer, compliance advisor, and connector.


What brought you to the cannabis industry?

It’s my opportunity to right a wrong that took place decades ago.


What do you bring to the cannabis marketing community?

Experience from different perspectives, both globally and locally in different roles.

What do you want your peers to know about you?

The cannabis industry isn’t for the faint of heart or those looking to get rich quick. I’m the epitome of someone who took a giant leap of faith and has no regrets.


Tell us a bit about your personal relationship with cannabis. How do you use it?

I use cannabis to treat anxiety, depression, and insomnia, but also find it’s the ONLY method of helping me to stop swirling with work 24/7.


How has your job changed since cannabis was deemed essential? What does cannabis being deemed essential mean to you?

My roles haven’t changed as a result of being essential.


Why did you join CMA?

To network with other marketers in this constantly evolving industry.


What is your favorite part of being a CMA member?

The opportunity to meet others in the industry and learn from one another.


CMA’s mission is to bring a positive perception to, and authentic understanding of, cannabis and its consumers around the world. How are you working to bring a positive perception to cannabis and its consumers?

Many of my clients are passionate beyond imagination about the importance of cannabis as medicine and I agree wholeheartedly. This is a plant, not a drug. It helps us reduce our dependence on pharmaceuticals and stimulates our economy.

What is a little-known fact about you or anything else you want readers to know?

In cannabis, you forge your path with hard work and taking advantage of all potential opportunities. Once people see your work ethic and your “get-shit-done”-ness, the work will follow.
